# Image editing and generation

ImgtoImg is a browser-based image editing and generation service operated by the ImgtoImg Team. Start from a reference image and describe a change, or generate an image from text. The team developed the product from its own content-creation and e-commerce image work.

## Input and output
Image-to-image starts with one JPG, PNG or WebP reference image per initial request. For two references, use [the image combiner](https://imgtoimg.co/ai-image-combiner). Text-to-image starts with a prompt without a reference image. Select the model, aspect ratio, resolution and output count available in the editor. Initial requests can produce 1–4 output images; each follow-up edit produces one new image. Downloads are PNG, JPG or WebP raster files.

Output count controls generated results, not uploaded references. Choosing four outputs does not add source-image slots. For a tested background-editing workflow, read [the photo background guide](https://imgtoimg.co/change-photo-background.md).

## Use the editor
1. Sign in, open [the editor](https://imgtoimg.co/#generator), add your reference image if needed, and describe the image or edit you want.
2. Choose the available settings, check the credit cost and submit the request.
3. Review the result, make a charged follow-up edit if needed, or download it.

## Account, costs and limits
Sign in to generate and download. New accounts receive 6 signup credits. Free generation is limited to 1K; valid paid access supports 1K, 2K and 4K. Uploading alone uses no generation credits. Each output or follow-up edit uses credits; check the total before submitting. Free downloads have an ImgtoImg preview watermark. Paid downloads omit it, but model-generated marks or text can remain. Prompts and area marks guide AI; they do not lock pixels or guarantee exact preservation. Faces, text, logos, product features and unmarked areas can change. Review the downloaded result before publishing or using it for a client. You must have permission to use your inputs. Generation time and availability depend on external providers.

Area marking is available when editing a generated result. It guides the next generation rather than locking the rest of the image. It is not an exact masking tool for the initial uploaded reference.

## Scope of these resources
These are public website guides, not a user-history export, live account balance, generation API or MCP interface. No public automation interface is documented here. Private dashboard, checkout, account and generation records are excluded. Use the HTML pages and editor for current settings and policies.
